He’s just quietly standing around, hoping that nobody asks him which timeline he’s in. We’re not sure yet, and Bernard doesn't seem to know. Does that mean they’ve been wiped, or is it the consequence of free will? Or are they artificial copies, a sneaky distraction from Dolores' real army? It’ll be interesting to see where Maeve’s upgrade takes her I’m predicting an epic face-off between Dolores and Maeve, as the good and evil goddesses of Westworld are too busy raising armies and collecting weapons for it not to end in tears.įinally, in Bernard’s future timeline, it’s revealed that at least a third of the dead hosts found floating in the river are blank slates, devoid of data, and narratives. That’s a major game-changer, one that really highlights how artificial Maeve’s reality is.īeing all-powerful has got to mess with Maeve’s eventual mother/daughter relationship, surely, seeing as a kid who can’t help but obey every command might as well be a goddamn Tamagotchi. The Adam and Eve of Westworld officially ate the apple, and it’s a bitter fruit indeed.īut Maeve doesn’t need an IT guy to hack her companions, and after her verbal commands proved useless to the ninja who kept covering her mouth before she could finish her sentences, she realizes that she can manipulate her fellow hosts just by thinking about it. Click here and you can see exactly which stats she tweaked it’s safe to say that after this episode, Teddy isn’t going to be the kind of guy who cuddles after sex. Dolores knows that Teddy’s too good for this world, a lamb amongst wolves, and she wants to enjoy a little tenderness before she gets the IT guy to turn him into an asshole. She’s embracing the 4chan philosophy, reckoning that if nothing means anything, she might as well set the world on fire and watch it burn.īut first, she’s going to spend the night with Teddy. Dolores, on the other hand, doesn’t see anything wrong with that. If I was asked to define her personality, I’m not sure what I would say other than “loves her daughter.” But the difference between the show’s two super-sentient hosts is quite interesting.Īfter their mutual epiphany that life is fake and pointless, Maeve and Dolores chose strikingly different paths Maeve figures that she might as well craft her own meaning out of her false reality, because the only other option is a kind of teenage nihilism. Maeve’s slowly turning into a demigod, or maybe an all-out god, and she remains infuriatingly free of character flaws. Funnily enough, Maeve’s soul-crushing realization that her entire personality is nothing but a product of lazy writing doesn’t distract her from her all-consuming quest to find her daughter, which definitely feeling like lazy writing at this point.
